One person died and two were hurt when Russia attacked Kyiv overnight into October 2, Ukraine's state emergency service and mayor Vitali Klitschko said.
A 25-storey apartment block was hit in the Darnytsky district. Fire broke out on the 24th and 25th floors, damaging about 40 square metres, the emergency service said. Rescuers pulled two injured people from the building and handed them to medics.
"While putting out the fire, we found the body of someone who had died. Six more people have been evacuated," the service said.
In the Holosiivskyi district, falling debris hit an open area, breaking windows of a non-residential building and damaging several cars, Klitschko said.
On the morning of October 2, the Southern Bridge was hit again. "The Southern Bridge is now completely closed to traffic in both directions," the mayor wrote. The bridge had already been attacked twice the day before: on October 1, two drones struck near one of its support structures at midday, and in the evening a drone hit the road surface.
Two other bridges also have restrictions. On the Metro Bridge, traffic from the left bank to the right bank is down to one lane, while the Paton Bridge has stopped traffic from the right bank to the left.
