Securing funding from the fourth and fifth payments of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) is of critical importance to the country. Prime Minister Rumen Radev stated this at the beginning of the cabinet meeting, noting that these proceeds are necessary against the backdrop of an empty treasury and the fact that 2026 revenues have already been spent in advance.

The European Commission approved the transfer of funds as a recognition of the cabinet’s political will and concrete actions in the areas of the rule of law and anti-corruption efforts, Radev noted. According to him, work on the RRP for the entire European Union concluded this week. In three and a half months, the government has made up for years of neglect and a lack of courage for reforms in order to prevent the loss of financial resources for Bulgaria.

The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Pekanov and the ministers for their efforts under the conditions of a severe time shortage. He also thanked the members of parliament from the majority for the swift introduction and voting of the legislative changes that guarantee the reforms and the financial inflows.
