Over 770 children, students from first to eighth grade, from the entire Burgas region participated in the second edition of the "Rotary Mathematical Holidays". The event, which turned into a real celebration of knowledge and friendship, gathered a record number of participants, making Burgas the epicenter of mathematical inspiration.

The initiative was organized by the Rotary Club Burgas, in partnership with the prestigious Natural Sciences and Mathematics High School "Acad. Nikola Obreshkov", the Union of Bulgarian Mathematicians, and Burgas Municipality. This union of institutions is part of a long-term agreement that aims to support education and stimulate young talents in the region.

Even before the deadline, which was ten days before the date of the competition, all places for participation were filled, which testifies to the huge interest in the event. The unexpected number of applicants necessitated additional organization to ensure comfort and safety for all participants, especially for the youngest - children up to 12 years old.

Over 50 volunteers – Rotarians, Rotaractors, and Interact members, together with friends of Rotary, participated in the preparation and conduct of the competition. Among them were representatives of Rotary Club Pomorie, Rotary Club Ruse-Dunav, as well as young people from Interact Burgas, Interact Burgas Primorie and Rotaract Burgas Pirgos.

The special guest of the event was Plamen Tsvetkov, District Governor of Rotary District 2482 (Bulgaria). At the opening, he shared "What I see today in Burgas is an example of how the community, the school and the family can together inspire children towards knowledge and development,".

The second edition of the "Rotary Mathematical Holidays" exceeded all expectations. If in 2024 the participants were 403, this year their number reached 770 – almost twice as many.

The competition attracted families not only from Burgas, Aytos, Karnobat, Sozopol, Tsarevo, Pomorie, Nessebar and Ruen, but also from Sliven and Yambol. Even parents from Varna showed interest in the event.

12 illustrated tasks were prepared for first graders, while students from second to eighth grade had to solve 15 tasks of varying degrees of difficulty. All tasks will be published on the official website of the competition on December 1, where the results will also be announced, as well as the date of the awards ceremony.

The organizers expressed special gratitude to the management of NPHS "Acad. Nikola Obreshkov" and personally to the director, Mrs. Milena Andonova, for the excellent coordination and support.

Rotary clubs from Kardzhali, Svishtov and Plovdiv, as well as from Turkey, Greece and Romania, are already showing interest in holding similar competitions.

The next stage of this exciting initiative will be a final round, which will take place in the spring of 2026. It will bring together participants from different cities in Bulgaria and from other countries. In this way, the "Rotary Mathematical Holidays" in Burgas are preparing to become an international platform for young talents in mathematics, united by the friendship and values of Rotary.
