A planned rotation of American military personnel at the “Novo Selo” training ground has begun within the framework of the Atlantic Resolve initiative, the Ministry of Defense announced.

The rotation of personnel from the US contingent, performing tasks within the framework of the Atlantic Resolve security assurance initiative, is taking place in the period from April 8 to 12.

A total of 625 servicemen will arrive at Varna Airport, from where they will be transported to the joint Bulgarian-American facility at the “Novo Selo” Training Ground.

The movement of personnel and accompanying equipment from Varna Airport to the “Novo Selo” training ground will be carried out on the republican road network. During transportation, the passage of columns with military equipment escorted by teams of the “Military Police” is possible.

The Ministry of Defense calls on citizens and drivers to show understanding and to follow the instructions of the law enforcement authorities when encountering military columns, in order to ensure traffic safety.

Atlantic Resolve is an initiative of the US Army in Europe and Africa, which aims to strengthen deterrence, increase the readiness of the Alliance and improve the interaction between US forces and allies in Eastern Europe, the Ministry recalls. The initiative includes American formations, which on a rotational basis participate in bilateral, joint or multinational exercises in the Baltic countries, Poland, Romania and Bulgaria.

On March 26, the Ministry of Defense announced the conduct of a joint training in the airspace of Bulgaria (over the "Novo Selo" training ground and in the northeastern part of the country) within the framework of the NATO enhanced vigilance measures Neptune Strike 26-1.
