Parents of three teenagers in Kameno have paid the full €264 cost of new draughts tables damaged in the yard of Hristo Botev school. The boys are 13, 16 and 17, the town's district police department said.

Police identified them, and all three fully confessed.

Kameno council says the tables were damaged on 14 October in the yard of the Old School. They had been installed only two weeks earlier, which angered local people. Photos show the metal tubes of the tables bent.

After the first report, the council said it had security camera footage. It had not yet officially established who was involved or how old they were. The council called on parents to talk with their children about responsibility for public property.

The draughts tables are part of a makeover of the area around the old school, which the council is developing as a place for sport and leisure. Children and young people use them in their free time. Last year the council also paid for a new tennis court in the area from its own budget, to give pupils and other residents more to do.
