The State Social Insurance spends huge funds on providing for Bulgarian pensioners. For the first four months of the year, the amount for pensions reached just over 4,870 million euros. This significant financial resource shows the scale of social payments in our country.
Comparison with the previous year
Data from the National Social Security Institute reveal a clear upward trend. Compared to the same period of the previous year, there is an increase of 435.9 million euros, representing a growth of almost ten percent. Revenues under the consolidated budget also mark a positive trend. By the end of April, they amounted to 2,722 million euros. This is a significant upward leap.
How much does the average pensioner in Bulgaria receive?
Statistics report a total of 2,067,332 elderly people in the country. Their number has increased minimally by about fourteen thousand people over twelve months. The average monthly amount received by a person is an extremely important indicator. It already reaches 549.51 euros. This value also includes the festive Easter supplement.

Other social payments and funds
The state also allocates funds for other social needs. Benefits under the Social Insurance Code amounted to over 484 million euros for the period under review. The revenues of the Teachers' Pension Fund increased tangibly, reaching over 24 million euros. Expenditures amounted to 22.5 million euros. A positive trend is also reported for the fund for guaranteed claims of workers. Its revenues amounted to just over 910 thousand euros. Expenditures were slightly under 600 thousand euros.
