Turkey makes history with a spectacular dance record
Istanbul became the stage for a massive cultural event that officially went down in history. A total of 5,000 dancers, dressed in traditional costumes gathered from all corners of Turkey, performed the iconic "horon" dance, setting a new Guinness World Record.
"The horon is ours" – the motto that united thousands of guardians of tradition in Istanbul.
How did the event go?
- Location: Maltepe event space.
- Organization: The Turkish Folk Dance Federation.
- Condition: The dance had to be performed without interruption for three minutes under the watchful eye of Guinness representatives.
The record was officially confirmed by the Guinness representative for Turkey, Sheyda Subashi. The Governor of Istanbul, Davut Gül, initiated the attempt, which turned into a true celebration of the country's cultural heritage.
"This event demonstrates our deep commitment to preserving our cultural heritage," said Hüseyin Güler, President of the Folk Dance Federation.
