A 47-year-old man from Dobrich will spend five years and six months in prison, starting in a strict-regime facility, for keeping fentanyl to sell. Dobrich Regional Court approved a plea deal, and the sentence is final.
The man has previous convictions, so the court treated the case as dangerous repeat offending.
On 10 March 2026, he had almost half a kilo of fentanyl, exactly 497.96 grams, in a car in the village of Odrintsi, Dobrich region. The drugs are worth €30,554.83. Fentanyl is a high-risk substance. Bulgaria's law on controlling narcotic substances and precursors requires a permit for it, and the man had none.
Prosecutors, the defendant and his lawyer agreed the deal. The man admitted guilt and accepted the sentence, so the court did not hold a full trial.
The court also fined him €10,225.84 (20,000 leva) and ordered him to pay €2,931.25 in court costs.
