I emphasize, no fighter jets are flying over Bulgaria to participate in military actions. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Marin Raykov.
Raykov emphasized that there are no grounds for increased concerns due to the aircraft that are part of NATO's forward deployment at the Sofia airport. He pointed out that Bulgaria maintains diplomatic relations with Iran and there is no change in these relations. Communication with the Iranian side continues.
Iran has been told that Bulgaria is not at war and is not about to enter such a scenario, Raykov said. The Bulgarian parliament has not approved a decision to support military actions.
The aircraft that are in Bulgaria are part of NATO's forward deployment, and the alliance itself is not at war at the moment, said Raykov.
“This note is a fact, but it should not be viewed as a reason for higher levels of concern,” Raykov said in connection with a declaration by ITN.
