Protesters against the government want to revive the "patchwork coalition" and return to power with Boyko Borisov and Delyan Peevski, Prime Minister Rumen Radev told BNT earlier today. He said the organisers' aims are becoming more and more obvious.
"To revive the patchwork coalition, to whitewash Borisov and Peevski, to return to power with them, because they can't do it alone," Radev said.
He said the protesters also want to drag Bulgaria into the war and have Asen Vasilev write the budget, which he said would "finish off" the country.
Radev also spoke about the protests in Western Europe. He put them down first of all to uncontrolled migration and failed integration. He also listed deindustrialisation, the Green Deal and job losses.
He named Russia's war against Ukraine as another cause, and said he has talked about this for a long time. The war drains economies and creates social tension and political instability, he said. It will get harder and harder to explain politically why Europeans' wellbeing goes to the war and not to their own problems, Radev said.
He again called for the war to end as soon as possible, because it now threatens wellbeing and social and political stability in Europe.
Last year the EU agreed to lend Ukraine 90 billion, with Europe as guarantor. Zelensky asked for another 70 billion at the EU Council meeting that ended on Friday last week.
"Bulgaria cannot be part of these 70 billion," Radev told BNT.
In Tvarditsa, the prime minister broke ground on a new energy storage park that uses Tesla technology. Radev said the park will make the power system more stable and balanced, and bring lower electricity prices.
