President Rumen Radev sharply criticized the proposed changes to the law aimed at removing the National Security Service"(NSS)"’s function of providing transport for the presidential administration. "Each regional directorate of any ministry has official cars; the presidency does not – it is the only state institution that does not", the president told reporters. He emphasized that he saw no problem in the NSS being removed from this task, but insisted on securing the necessary funds and resources. "No problem, let it not be the NSS, but they must provide a budget, cars, drivers", Radev said categorically.
His statement comes against the backdrop of the opening of the school year at two Sofia schools – the First English Language High School and the 112th "Stoyan Zaimov" Primary School. The atmosphere in the schools was filled with excitement and anticipation for the new school year, but the issue of the future of the presidential administration was clearly on the agenda for the head of state.
President Radev did not hide his annoyance at the proposed changes, characterizing them as an attempt at confrontation. His position was supported by his sharp criticism of other current events. "Today we will not waste our time on such topical issues, nor with other ministries that got entangled in various lies, nor with Mr. Borisov"’s confessions that the "Hemus" highway will cost us twice as much. Of course, it will cost us twice as much – I agree with him, because the first time the payment was made in bags", he said, hinting at potential corruption practices.
Delving into the topic of education, Radev emphasized its key role in Bulgaria"’s future. "All successes in the new history of Bulgaria are due precisely to the educated and dedicated to the cause of enlightenment, independence and freedom Bulgarian people", he said. In his words, an educated people are invulnerable to demagoguery. The president emphasized the need to modernize the education system while preserving its rich traditions. He is adamant that education must instill patriotism and build worthy individuals. "The great challenge facing our society today is how to guarantee a decent future for Bulgaria, which is unthinkable without education", concluded the president.
