A QR code will be placed at each polling station, directing the visually impaired to the websites of the district election commissions. This is a solution that provides access to official and up-to-date information about the candidates.

In the upcoming early parliamentary elections in Bulgaria, visually impaired citizens will have easier access to information about the candidate lists. This is made possible thanks to the placement of QR codes in each polling station.

After scanning the QR code, the visually impaired will be redirected to the website of the respective regional election commission. There they will find information about the candidates, which allows them to be informed about the elections.

Deputy Minister of e-Governance Nikolai Minev explained that this decision was chosen to ensure access to official and up-to-date information. The commissions' websites guarantee that the information is verified and can be changed if necessary.

Minev noted that this decision requires minimal effort and can be implemented in all over 9,000 polling station election commissions in the country. The Ministry of e-Governance continues to work on detailing the decision to make it as convenient as possible for citizens with disabilities.
