Modernization ambitions for bus transport to Vitosha are facing serious challenges after the failure of a key public procurement. According to expert analysis, the procedure for the delivery of new vehicles was compromised from its initial phase.

Simeon Stavrev from the PP-DB political formation revealed details to BNR about the critical situation. The public procurement for ten new buses attracted only two potential contractors, with one being disqualified due to formal discrepancies.

The management of the Capital City Transport is under sharp criticism for its inability to organize an effective tender. The expert emphasized that no improvement in transport connectivity with the mountain is expected in the near future.

The current vehicle fleet has ten outdated vehicles whose technical condition raises serious concerns. In the event of a breakdown of any bus, intervals between routes will further increase, which will additionally complicate movement.

Stavrev emphasized the lack of control and accountability from the municipal leadership. "The team of Mayor Terziev demonstrates a complete lack of management capacity," the municipal councilor stated firmly.

Parallel to the transport issue, the expert also commented on problems surrounding the Simeonovski lift. According to him, the investor bypasses established legal procedures by directly approaching the Council of Ministers without obtaining the necessary permission from the Capital Municipality.

A key point in the statement is the assertion that neither a transport nor infrastructure project can be realized without the consent of the local administration. "If they have serious intentions, they must work directly with the Capital Municipality," Stavrev emphasized.

Civic organizations have already signaled the need to improve access to the mountain. The lack of adequate public transport and modern infrastructure continues to be a serious challenge for citizens and tourists.

At the moment, the only real option for getting to Vitosha remains a personal vehicle, which poses additional challenges for ecological movement and traffic in the area.
