A protest by employees of Bulgarian Posts is taking place this morning in several cities across the country. The dissatisfaction is organized by the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB). Their main demand is an increase in salaries retroactively – from January 1st.
The employees' dissatisfaction began precisely at 7:30 AM in front of the Old Post Office building in Burgas, which is the start of their workday and when the post offices were supposed to open their doors, but this did not happen. Today is also the first day for distributing pensions for this month.
The employees are demanding higher wages. The main demand of the protesters is an increase in salaries by a minimum of 5% and that this should take effect retroactively - from January 1st. According to the words of a large part of the protesters, the employees here have not received increases in their wages for more than a year, and over 80% of them receive the minimum wage.
