An attempt to block the road to the border checkpoint "Makaza" was thwarted by law enforcement officers. A police and gendarmerie cordon prevented the protest actions of political activists who initially planned to temporarily suspend traffic.

The initial notification sent by Todor Batkov Jr. to the local administration envisaged a peaceful protest lasting two hours - between 10:00 and 12:00. The mayor of Kirkovo Municipality, Shinasi Suleyman, confirmed to BTA the receipt of an official message to the respective institutions, including the Road Infrastructure Agency and Border Police.

The paradox in the situation lies in Batkov's claim that he received permission from the local authorities, while it was subsequently established that the mayor issued an order prohibiting the demonstration. Among the protesters were the chairman of the political party "Revival" Kostadin Kostaddinov and his parliamentary colleagues.
