Why is the disciplinary proceeding against Rusinova being postponed?
The Prosecutors' Chamber of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) has for the second time postponed the consideration of the disciplinary proceeding against Emilia Rusinova, who is the acting administrative head of the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office (SCPO). The news was confirmed by the chamber's spokesperson, Kalina Chapkanova.
The lack of a quorum was the reason for the postponement, after two members of the disciplinary panel recused themselves and other members were on leave.
Context of the case
The disciplinary proceeding was initiated following a proposal by the former caretaker Minister of Justice, Andrey Yankulov, in April. The main arguments for it are related to:
- Rusinova's trips abroad in the company of Petyo Petrov ("Petyo the Euro") and Kristian Hristov.
- The "Eight Dwarfs" case, which was already publicly known at that time and regarding which correspondence was being conducted.
We remind you that on July 8, the SJC's Prosecutors' Chamber had already postponed the item regarding the temporary removal of Rusinova from office once before.
