Sofia City Court will decide today whether Eyup Temiz, the only person charged with the murder of Slavi Binev, stays in custody. Prosecutors have asked for "detention in custody", the toughest preventive measure.
Binev, a businessman, former MEP and head of Bulgarian taekwondo, was shot dead.
The background: Prosecutors charge one of three detained over killing of Slavi Binev
The Interior Ministry says the businessman was killed with a single shot to the head. Investigators believe Temiz fired it.
Prosecutors say the two men knew each other well and had business contacts. One of the main lines of inquiry is a conflict over unsettled financial matters, but the exact motive has not yet been established.
Experts are still testing the weapons that were found. The tests should show which of them fired the shot that killed Binev.
