Primorsko is starting work on a parallel sewer main to stop streets flooding in heavy rain, mayor Ivan Gaykov said on social media.
Manholes in the town have overflowed after downpours for years. At the entrance to Koria park, a 600mm pipe flows into a 300mm line leading to pumping station KPS 2, and the network cannot take the volume.
The new main will carry part of the water and ease the load on the existing line, so wastewater does not flow back towards the built-up parts of the town. The municipality ordered the project. Gaykov did not give an exact date for the start of construction.
"With the new facility we aim to solve this long-standing problem for good. It will increase the capacity of the system and allow the water to be carried away reliably," the mayor wrote.
