According to the latest survey by the sociological agency "Global Metrics," conducted in July 2026, Iliana Iotova holds the strongest starting position for the upcoming presidential elections. About half of the respondents declare their readiness to support her.
The study is not an election forecast, but measures the current readiness to support specific individuals in a highly polarized political environment.
Survey results:
- Iliana Iotova: about 50% support
- Andrey Gyurov: 23%
- Daniel Valchev: 18%
- Ivan Hristanov: 12%
What kind of president do Bulgarians want?
The data outlines a clear profile of expectations. Voters are looking for neither a purely ceremonial figure nor a radical change toward a presidential republic. They are seeking a balanced but active head of state, who:
- Unites the nation (89% agree)
- Protects the national interest even against the government (87% agree)
- Has strong international standing (86% agree)
- Places personal integrity and moral stature above party resources
Trust in politicians
The environment remains highly polarized. A positive balance between trust and distrust is recorded only for Rumen Radev (+35%) and Iliana Iotova (+31%). Other political figures register neutral or strongly negative levels of trust.
