On January 12, Monday, at 10:00 AM, President Rumen Radev will hand over the mandate to GERB-SDS. This is in accordance with Art. 99, para. 1 of the Constitution. According to the Constitution, a procedure for handing out exploratory mandates for forming a government follows. The President assigns to a candidate for Prime Minister, nominated by the largest parliamentary group in terms of numbers, to form a government.
If they do not succeed within seven days, the second largest group follows. If that also doesn't happen, the President assigns it to the next parliamentary group. When the mandate has been successfully completed, the President proposes to the National Assembly to elect the candidate for Prime Minister.
If no agreement is reached, the President appoints a caretaker government and schedules new elections within a two-month period.
