Insurance brokers in Bulgaria placed €744m in premiums with insurers based in the country in the first half of 2026. Premiums are the money customers pay for their policies. That is 10% more than in the first six months of 2025, according to Financial Supervision Commission (FSC) data processed by the BTA news agency.

A year earlier, premiums through brokers were €0.67bn (1.32bn leva), or about €675m, so the gap is roughly €70m.

Motor third-party liability insurance brought in the most, with €265.6m in the first six months of the year.

Commissions, which are the brokers' pay, were €150.3m at the end of June. That is 12% more than a year earlier, when they were €133.86m (261.8m leva), or €134m. On average, they make up 20.2% of premiums.

The data cover 344 insurance brokers registered at the end of June 2026.
