In the airwaves of a national television channel, a heated discussion erupted regarding search and arrest procedures, provoked by a recent incident involving the mayor of Varna.

Legal experts Dimitar Markovski and Petar Slavov harshly criticized the Anti-Corruption Commission's actions during the detention of Mayor Blagomir Kotsev. According to them, the methods used by investigating officers are far from accepted European human rights standards.

Slavov definitively described the incident as "absolutely unacceptable behavior". He emphasized that a team of fifteen agents burst into Kotsev's home, confiscating his personal phone and hindering communication with a lawyer. "Such an approach resembles a repressive operation more than a professional investigation," the lawyer commented.

Dimitar Markovski, for his part, pointed out that such actions are incompatible with the principles of the rule of law. "In a modern European state, summons and a civilized approach must be paramount," he stated.

The experts' predictions are more than troubling. They believe the case will be referred to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, which will inevitably lead to financial sanctions for the Bulgarian state.

The lawyers paid special attention to the status of Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov. They expressed doubts about the legitimacy of his appointment and the potential legal consequences of his potential prolonged governance.

A key moment in the discussion was emphasizing the need to review existing procedures for detaining citizens, especially when it comes to public figures.

The experts categorically insisted on introducing stricter internal rules and control mechanisms for law enforcement actions that would guarantee respect for personal rights and dignity.

The comprehensive analysis of the case reveals systemic problems in the Bulgarian judicial system that require immediate and fundamental reforms.
