MPs on parliament's legal affairs committee have backed, at second reading, changes to the law on the commercial register and the register of non-profit legal entities. The goal is to clear a backlog of annual filings that has built up over the years.
Yanka Tyankova from the "Progressive Bulgaria" group and a group of MPs put forward the changes. They say the simpler process will unclog the system and cut the paperwork applicants have to submit.
The head of the Registry Agency will be able to hire registration officials. This can happen within two years of the law taking effect, on contracts of up to one year, for no more than 30 people.
