The Council of Ministers made a decision to allocate additional funds for education, announced the outgoing Minister of Education, Krasimir Valchev. The funds are intended for the implementation of three national programs adopted in 2023 with the budget for 2024.
The most significant program is for the construction and repair of gymnasiums and sports fields. Currently, nearly 165 gymnasiums are being renovated or built. 45 projects have been completed, and 120 are in the process of implementation. Sports fields in schoolyards are also being built and modernized, with 225 completed and 126 under construction so far.
The second program is for the construction and repairs of schools and kindergartens with the aim of transitioning to a single-shift mode of education. 3 projects have been completed, 60 are in the process of implementation, and 92 are yet to begin.
The third program is for the renovation, refurbishment, and modernization of student dormitories. Under it, 32 projects are being implemented, of which 6 have been completed. With the latest decision of the Council of Ministers, just over 5 million euros are additionally allocated for the realization of this program.
