The government has set aside €325,548 to pay for school transport for Ukrainian children with temporary protection, the Council of Ministers press office said.
The money goes to councils in the Varna, Burgas and Dobrich regions. They will use it to pay for the children's journeys from where they live to kindergarten or school during the school year.
In the second term of the 2025/2026 school year, 1,451 children with temporary protection were enrolled in pre-school groups in kindergartens and schools. Another 5,688 pupils with the same status were studying in schools.
A year earlier, in the second term of 2024/2025, there were 1,592 children in pre-school groups and 5,325 pupils.
In October 2025, the government also gave money for free transport for these children. The sum was 385,750 leva (€197,230.84) and covered the whole school year, from 15 September 2025 to 30 June 2026.
