The Government Allocates Over 1.9 Million Leva for Educational Development in the Country
The Government of the Republic of Bulgaria has announced significant financial support for the educational system, providing funds worth 1,931,929 leva to municipal budgets. These funds will be directed towards financing activities under four key national programs aimed at improving the learning environment and promoting the development of children and students across the country. The announcement was made by the press service of the Council of Ministers, highlighting the cabinet's commitment to educational reforms.
Details on the Programs and Funding
The funding is distributed across several key areas that address current challenges in Bulgarian education:
- National Program "Road Traffic Safety": Under this initiative, 228,048 leva will be used to purchase materials and equipment. These will support training in 112 municipal kindergartens and 120 municipal schools, with the goal of raising road safety awareness among the youngest.
- National Program "No Aggression for a Safe Educational Environment": To address the issue of violence in schools, 561,425 leva have been set aside. The funds will support 28 municipal kindergartens and 44 municipal schools in creating a safer and more supportive environment. The program will finance discussions, seminars, meetings, and workshops focused on preventing aggression and improving overall communication culture.
- National Program "Together for Every Child": To ensure that no child is left out of the educational system, 234,703 leva have been provided. These funds will be directed towards outreach teams and their interaction with parents to encourage the enrollment of children in 97 municipal kindergartens and schools.
- National Program "Providing a Modern, Safe, and Accessible Educational Environment": The largest amount of 907,753 leva is designated for this program. 47 municipal institutions will receive funding to furnish modern classrooms and special interest activity corners. The goal is to develop students' abilities in natural and exact sciences through more accessible and innovative methods.
Context of the Broader Educational Strategy
This cabinet decision is part of a larger strategy to support the educational sector. We recall that in early May, the government already approved a total of 25 national programs that will play a key role in supporting educational policies for the upcoming school year.
Among these programs, three stand out as completely new initiatives: "Future for Talents", "Skills in Focus", and "Security". These new directions demonstrate the Council of Ministers' desire to adapt the educational system to modern needs and invest in the future generations of the country. The overall framework of these programs shows a clear vision for modernizing education and ensuring better development opportunities for Bulgarian children and youth.
