Meeting at "Dondukov" 2 regarding petition against Budget 2026
Vice President Iliana Iotova is receiving representatives of the "We Continue the Change" (PP) parliamentary group at "Dondukov" 2. The meeting, which begins at 4:00 p.m., was initiated by the political formation in connection with their petition to veto the State Budget Act for 2026.
PP leader Asen Vassilev and the chairman of the PP parliamentary group, Academician Nikolay Denkov, will personally present the petition, which has gathered the support of over 32,000 Bulgarian citizens.
Main concerns of the opposition
- A projected budget deficit of 5.7% of GDP;
- Freezing the minimum wage at the level of 620.20 euros;
- The possibility of taking on new state debt in the amount of up to 10.1 billion euros.
As early as July 24, "We Continue the Change" requested a veto not only on the state budget, but also on the budgets of the State Public Insurance (Doo) and the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF). In response to the requests, Iliana Iotova stated that she would review the opposition's arguments "very thoroughly and very seriously," even though she had already signed the budgets for the State Public Insurance and the NHIF.
