Firefighters put out 169 fires across Bulgaria in the past 24 hours, and two people were hurt, the Fire Safety and Population Protection Directorate said. The figures are as of 6am.
Crews responded to 224 calls in all. Of these, 13 were false alarms and 42 were rescue or assistance operations.
Twenty-seven of the fires caused direct property damage. Homes burned in nine cases, vehicles in eight, and outbuildings or temporary or makeshift structures in five.
The other 142 fires caused no property damage. In 99 of them, dry grass, forest litter and bushes burned.
