Two people - a 62-year-old man and an 86-year-old woman, lost their lives in fires during the past 24 hours, the General Directorate "Fire Safety and Protection of the Population" announced on its official website. The tragic incidents highlight the critical importance of fire safety and caution in our homes.

The man died in a fire that broke out in an apartment in the Sofia residential complex "Lyulin" 2. The woman also fell victim to the fire in an apartment in Sofia, in the "Hippodrome" district. The details surrounding the causes of the fires and the circumstances that led to the fatal consequences are still being clarified by the competent authorities.

During the last 24 hours, firefighters in the country have battled a total of 57 fires. Of these, direct material damage was caused in 18, which highlights the significant risk of fires and their potential to lead to serious financial losses. Firefighting teams responded to a total of 94 calls for incidents, including fires, accidents and other cases requiring the intervention of rescuers. Witnesses to these events were likely shocked by what was happening.

In addition to extinguishing fires, fire service employees performed 35 rescue operations and support operations. These operations often include the evacuation of people from dangerous areas, rescuing trapped or blocked persons, and providing first aid. Unfortunately, within the reported 24 hours, two false calls were also registered, which divert valuable resources from real situations where people need help.
