Firefighting and rescue teams are currently working at the scene, focusing their efforts on fully extinguishing the flames and preventing any further spread. The firefighters' top priority was protecting the nearby wood processing plant, which was at direct risk from the blaze.
In addition to the threat to the production facility, the fire near the Gorno Sahrane station in the Pavel Banya municipality has caused significant material damage. The flames have destroyed stored hay bales, several cars, and damaged a building belonging to the station complex.
Due to the fire approaching the tracks and critical infrastructure, it was necessary to suspend traffic today on the Sofia–Burgas railway line, which passes through the Sub-Balkan region.
