Pomorie has won gold as one of Bulgaria's top spots for seaside, spa and cultural tourism. The award comes from Destination Bulgaria magazine's annual list.
The magazine handed out the prize on September 25 at the Central Military Club in Sofia. Katya Krasteva, the publisher and editor-in-chief, gave out the award, and Shteliana Nedelcheva, who heads Pomorie's revenue, local taxes and tourism department, picked it up on the town's behalf.
For years the magazine has given out gold awards to people, institutions, organisations, towns, media outlets, hotels and investors who help build up and promote Bulgaria as a tourist destination.
This year's World Tourism Day looks at digital technology and artificial intelligence, but people still come first. The awards honour the work, dedication and care shown by everyone in tourism, no matter what part of the industry they work in.
