Eight risky gullies and riverbeds outside the urbanized territories in the Varna region have been cleaned, the regional administration announced. The activities were carried out after an inspection by an interdepartmental commission and according to the instructions of the Basin Directorates "Black Sea Region" and "Danube Region".

The cleaned river sections and gullies are in the territory of the municipalities of Beloslav, Aksakovo, Dolni Chiflik and Devnya. Shrub and tree vegetation, fallen trees and branches, which hindered the water flow, have been removed. Persons deprived of liberty with light sentences participated in the cleaning of the riverbeds and gullies.

The regional administration does not have its own specialized equipment necessary for this type of activities, therefore assistance was sought from the municipalities. The only uncleaned section at the moment is the corrected gully "Byal Kanal" in the industrial zone of Devnya. Due to the bilateral concrete correction and the significant amount of silt and aquatic vegetation, its cleaning cannot be carried out with manual labor and requires specialized construction equipment.
