Solemn Liturgy for Pentecost

On May 31, Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil will preside over the festive liturgy for Pentecost at the Patriarchal Cathedral "St. Alexander Nevsky". The arrival of His Holiness is scheduled for 9:00 AM, and the Holy Liturgy will begin at 9:30 AM.

"We invite Orthodox Christians to take part in the solemn liturgy through prayer," the Bulgarian Patriarchate urges.

What do we celebrate on Pentecost?

Pentecost is one of the most important Christian holidays, celebrated 50 days after Easter. According to theologian Prof. Ivan Zhelev, the day marks the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles.

This day is considered the birthday of the Church, as after the fervent sermon of the Apostle Peter, three thousand people believed and were baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.
