The Orthodox Church celebrates today the feast day of Saint Daniel the Stylite. Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan of Sofia Daniel will mark the feast day of his heavenly patron with the solemn Divine Liturgy. It will be celebrated by the Patriarch and archbishops from the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church - Bulgarian Patriarchate BOC-BP in the metropolitan cathedral “St. Great Martyr Nedelya”, announced the press service of the BOC-BP.

The Bulgarian Patriarchate invites Orthodox Christians to take part in prayer in the solemn service.

As BTA wrote a year ago, God drew me to the monastic way of life and for the sake of God I wanted to leave the world. I began to understand in my life what patience, perseverance in prayer, humility, and the striving for the Kingdom of God mean. This was said on December 11, 2024, in his speech by the Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan of Sofia Daniel, after the solemn Divine Liturgy for the feast day of St. Daniel the Stylite was served in the metropolitan cathedral "St. Great Martyr Nedelya". The service was then celebrated by the Patriarch and archbishops from the Holy Synod of the BOC-BP.

We see how much we need patience, perseverance, overcoming the many trials with which modern life is overflowing, noted Patriarch Daniel in his speech a year ago.

BTA recalls that Vidin Metropolitan Daniel was elected Bulgarian Patriarch and Metropolitan of Sofia by the delegates of the Patriarchal Electoral Church Council, which took place on June 30, 2024, in Sofia.

The new Bulgarian Patriarch was then elected in a runoff between Vratsa Metropolitan Gregory and Vidin Metropolitan Daniel.
