The Parliament began discussing the amendments to the so-called extension law for the state budget on first reading. The amendments were supported by the parliamentary budget and finance committee.
Main changes:
- Extends the validity of the Law on the Collection of Revenues and the Execution of Expenditures in 2026 until the adoption of the regular budget for 2026.
- Ensures continuity in the functioning of the state and the execution of budgetary payments.
- Changes regarding municipalities: the possibility of making more expenditures up to the amount of own revenues collected.
- Possibility of concluding an agreement with the European Commission under the SAFE mechanism for increasing Bulgaria's defense capabilities.
The caretaker Minister of Finance, Georgi Klisurski, pointed out three important topics in the bill.
