The Parliamentary Committee on Prevention and Counteraction of Corruption made an important decision, voting with a majority of 10 votes "in favor" of creating a nomination body to determine the future leadership of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The newly formed composition includes five established professionals from different institutions: Nevena Milova - Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice, lawyer Nina Sedefova from the Supreme Bar Council, Judge Kalin Kalpakchiev, Aysun Akdzhiev - Secretary General of the Ombudsman, and Silvia Kydreva, Deputy Chair of the Court of Audit.

During the meeting, sharp discussions arose, initiated by the representative of "Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria" Lena Borislavova. She insisted that the members of the nomination commission preliminarily declare potential conflicts of interest, property status, and political affiliations.

Borislavova expressed specific concerns about possible violations. According to her, there is a risk of delay in the potential replacement of a member due to the upcoming deputy vacation, which may hinder the committee's work.

The GERB-SDS representative Raya Nazaryan objected, emphasizing that the nominees are familiar with the internal rules and criteria for their position. The committee chair Maya Dimitrova from "BSP-United Left" called for strict adherence to the established order.

Dimitrova clarified the procedure for declaring circumstances: candidates must submit the necessary documents to the chair by August 5. In case of a conflict of interest, immediate notification and possible replacement of the respective member are envisaged.

Borislavova's proposal for preliminary declaration was rejected with five votes "in favor" and ten "abstentions".

In a subsequent statement to the media, Borislavova pointed out specific cases of potential conflict of interest. She emphasized the circumstance that Silvia Kydreva, as a member of the previous leadership, had signed bonuses for candidates for management positions - Stoyan Petkov and Petar Koev.

Additional doubts were raised about Nevena Milova due to her long-standing relationship with the Sofia Municipality and proximity to the office of Mayor Yordanka Fandykova.

The PP-DB deputy Bogdan Bogdanov assured that the deputy vacation is a sufficient period for the nomination commission to work on selecting the new leadership of the ACC.
