The Paris City Council took a remarkable step in recognition of artistic heritage by unanimously voting to rename a central city square in honor of Bulgarian and French artists.

On July 7, 2025, the official authorities in Paris decided to name the square near the Pont Neuf bridge after world-renowned artists Christo Javacheff and his wife Jeanne-Claude de Guillebon. This landmark decision comes as recognition of their enormous contribution to contemporary art.

The two artists have a deep historical connection with the French metropolis, dating back to 1958. One of their most remarkable projects - "Wrapped Pont Neuf", is directly linked to this specific urban district, which makes the square's selection exceptionally symbolic.

Official circles define this renaming as a significant cultural gesture that pays tribute to international artistic heritage and emphasizes the cosmopolitan spirit of contemporary art.
