The oldest tree in the yard of the "Nativity of the Theotokos" monastery in Burgas fell this afternoon around 5:30 PM. Footage from a security camera in the monastery captured the tree's collapse.

The holy monastery stated to BNT that the incident was not caused by strong wind, as it was not intense at the time of the incident. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. This is the third tree in a row that has fallen on its own, uprooting itself.

Abbess Xenia has been seeking help for three years to perform sanitary felling of the old and dangerous trees, but almost always receives either a refusal or expensive offers that cannot be paid.

“We hope now and call on the Municipality of Burgas to help. We also call on all citizens and organizations of Burgas who can help both with clearing the fallen tree and with securing the remaining trees to get involved”, the monastery stated.
