Long-serving teachers from Burgas and nearby towns will get the "Pop Georgi Dzhelebov" honorary badge on October 4 at 11:00, at the Georgi Baev hall in the Sea Casino cultural centre, the GERB Women's organisation in Burgas says.
Burgas mayor Dimitar Nikolov will hand out the awards. Those honoured include teachers from towns and villages across the region who have spent decades in the classroom.
The badge is named after clergyman and educator Pop Georgi Dzhelebov and is being given out for the third year running. Organisers say it's their way of thanking people for whom teaching is a calling. They pick teachers who have left a lasting mark on their school, their pupils and the community they work in.
