The film "Island of Amrum" by director Fatih Akin is the main highlight among the awarded titles of the 24th edition of "Sofia Film Fest on the Coast", after receiving the award of Burgas Municipality, awarded by the professional jury. The award was presented for the delicate and beautiful story about the choices based on human values in pivotal historical moments, presented through a sensitive children's perspective.
Director Fatih Akin joined with a video greeting to those present, in which he announced that he hopes to visit Burgas soon.
A total of 19 feature films competed for the two prestigious awards "Silver Seagull" – the audience award and the award of Burgas Municipality. The professional jury was chaired by Alexandra Ingilizova.
The "Silver Seagull" audience award was presented to the film "Atlas of the Universe" by Paul Negoescu, which became the other outstanding highlight of the festival.
Deputy Mayor of Culture Diana Savateva greeted those present on behalf of the Mayor of Burgas Municipality Dimitar Nikolov and announced that preparations for the jubilee 25th edition of "Sofia Film Fest on the Coast" are already beginning.
This year's festival program offered a strong selection of European and world cinema, including titles awarded at prestigious forums such as Cannes, Berlin, and Venice. In addition to the competition program, "Sofia Film Fest on the Coast" offered documentary films, special screenings, meetings with artists and accompanying cultural events.
