The first donors came forward within hours of Nessebar council publishing the Christmas wishes of 28 children and young people in "Operation Teddy Bear". The council said they have promised to grant some of the wishes.
The council is taking part in the campaign again this year through the Community Support Centre in Nessebar. "Operation Teddy Bear" is Bulgaria's biggest Christmas campaign for new gifts for children and young people in need. It runs every year before Christmas.
Every child on the list has a dream. The idea is that anyone can become a personal Santa Claus to a child by granting their wish.
People who want to help can pick a child on the campaign's official website. The gift must be brand new and in festive wrapping. It can be brought in person to the Community Support Centre in Nessebar or sent by post to the centre's address.
The council says such a quick response shows that people in Nessebar are kind and caring. It says a good deed does not take much time, just an open heart and the wish to make someone happy. The children, it says, are waiting for attention and care.
The other wishes on the list are still waiting for donors.
