Military specialists have successfully destroyed a munition found on Veleka beach near Sinemorets. The incident, which potentially threatened the safety of vacationers and local residents, began yesterday afternoon when a vigilant lifeguard noticed an unusual object floating in the water, about 50 meters from the shore. The discovery prompted a rapid response from authorities and caused serious tension in the area.
Disposal Operation
Following the signal from the lifeguard, police teams immediately arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area to ensure public safety. This morning, they were joined by a specialized team from military unit 32 890 – Burgas. The team, trained in the reconnaissance, marking, retrieval, transportation, and destruction of unexploded ordnance, immediately began work on identifying the object.
As a result of the thorough inspection, experts determined that it was an empty rocket booster. Although the booster itself did not pose an immediate threat of explosion, the fact that it was abandoned in the sea raised a number of questions. For now, the origin of the munition remains unclarified, as well as how long it had spent in the sea before being washed ashore. These circumstances are subject to further investigation.
In order to ensure the complete safety of the area, a decision was made for the controlled destruction of the object. The operation was carried out after authorization from the Chief of Defense and by order of the Chief of Staff of the Naval Forces. The military acted in full compliance with all regulatory documents to destroy the dangerous object in a safe and controlled manner, far from the public.
The incident near Sinemorets is a reminder of the potential dangers that can still be found along the Bulgarian coast. Despite the successful operation, the origin and journey of the rocket booster to _Veleka_ beach remain a mystery, raising questions about the security of maritime borders and control over the waters.
