A severe fire broke out near the Trakia Motorway about 85 km from Sofia in the lane towards Burgas, which led to the formation of a massive traffic jam and serious difficulties in traffic.
According to information from travelers in the section, the fire developed in immediate proximity to the motorway, with thick smoke hindering visibility and further complicating the passage of vehicles. The column of vehicles stretches for several kilometers, and traffic is completely stopped in some places.
Drivers are signaling the situation on social networks and warning other travelers to avoid the section if they have the opportunity, or to prepare for a long wait. Some of them describe the traffic jam as "practically motionless," with very few opportunities to maneuver and exit the motorway.
Fire department and Traffic Police teams have been sent to the scene, working to control the fire and regulate traffic. At the moment, there is no official information about injured people or the causes that led to the fire, but according to eyewitnesses, the flames quickly engulfed the dry vegetation near the road.
The competent authorities urge drivers to drive with increased caution, to follow the instructions of the control bodies, and, if possible, to use alternative routes until the situation is normalized. It is expected that official information about the measures taken and the status of traffic in the affected section will be released later today.
Follow the updates on the case and official announcements from institutions, as well as traffic information from the Road Infrastructure Agency and the Ministry of Interior, before planning a trip on the Trakia Motorway in the direction of Burgas.
