Sozopol Municipality announces a procedure for the election of members for the Children's Council 2026
In connection with the launch of a procedure for the election of members of the Children's Council to the State Agency for Child Protection, Sozopol Municipality informs you that the Children's Council is an advisory body to the chairman of the State Agency for Child Protection /SACCP/ and since 2003 has been working in implementation of the basic principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Child Protection Act.
Its goal is to promote children's participation in the processes of policy making for children and decision-making. It includes representatives of young people from each administrative region and children from vulnerable groups, giving them the opportunity to exchange knowledge, skills and values and to interact with state and non-governmental organizations at national and regional levels.
The Children's Council has developed a procedure for the election of its members. Its application is divided into three levels: municipal, regional and national, which are interconnected. In this way, an effective mechanism for children's participation will be built through the election of children to represent their peers from all over the country in the creation and implementation of measures and policies related to young people.
By May 24, 2026, all children and students aged 13-16 who wish to do so can apply to become members of the National Children's Advisory Body - the Children's Council, which is a new chance for each of them to demonstrate their leadership skills at a national level. To participate in the competition, they must send completed documents - an application form and a motivation letter to e-mail.
