Caretaker Defense Minister Atanas Zapryanov stated that there is no direct military threat to Bulgaria following the strike against Iran.
“Bulgaria is not part of and is not a party at all to the conduct of such an operation in Iran, we will not bring the armed forces to any higher degree of combat readiness. It is not necessary, but today there will be a Security Council under the Prime Minister, at which we will have to discuss issues related to the evacuation of Bulgarian citizens; we have diplomatic missions there.”
Zapryanov noted the presence of American armed forces in Bulgaria and the joint use of the facilities in Novo Selo. He added that the issues related to the situation will be discussed.
