The new train schedule of “BDZ - Passenger Services” comes into effect this Sunday, December 14, 2025, the company's press center announced.
Main changes and improvements:
- Improving service: Additional connections between trains are provided, enabling travel between more populated places.
- Reduced travel time: The travel time between Sofia and Burgas via Plovdiv, Sofia and Varna via Plovdiv, Plovdiv and Varna is reduced, thanks to the restoration of the routes through Chirpan.
- Sub-Balkan railway line: The movement of fast trains Sofia - Burgas - Sofia via the Sub-Balkan railway line with reduced travel time is maintained.
- Regional service: Service in the region of Lovech and Troyan and on the Plovdiv - Asenovgrad route is improved.
- Narrow gauge railway: Change in the schedule of the night train for more comfortable travel.
Maintaining the volume of transportation: In 2026, 518 trains will be operated, including express, passenger and suburban trains.
Restoration of connections: A convenient fast connection for travel from Plovdiv to Veliko Tarnovo and Ruse is restored, as well as the route of the Varna - Vratsa train.
International connections: The movement of 8 international express trains is maintained, including connections with Turkey and Romania.
From tomorrow, BDZ is launching Christmas trains with a steam locomotive on two routes Sofia - Bankya - Sofia and Gorna Oryahovitsa - Veliko Tarnovo - Gorna Oryahovitsa.
