New Skoda Train Arrives in Bulgaria: Details of the 326.7 Million Euro Project

The new Skoda train was presented at Sofia Central Station, part of a project for 25 electric multiple units worth 326.7 million euros, funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and the Transport Connectivity Program. The trains are for suburban transport, with 333 seats and a maximum speed of 160 km/h.

Today, the first newly manufactured “Skoda” train was presented at Sofia Central Station. The event was attended by the caretaker Minister of Transport and Communications, Korman Ismailov.

The project for the delivery of 25 motor trains is worth 326.7 million euros, of which 261.4 million euros are provided under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, and the remaining 65.3 million euros - under the “Transport Connectivity” Program 2021-2027.

The trains are designed for suburban transport and have a total of 333 seats, with a maximum speed of 160 km/h.

The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Bulgaria, H.E. Miroslav Toman, and the Chief Executive Officer of “Skoda Group” Peter Novotny.

It is expected that Bulgaria will receive all 25 new trains by August 2026. The then Minister of Transport, Grozdan Karadjov, emphasized the high quality and modern technologies in the production of “Skoda” trains.
