Burgas is joining "Fireflies RUN," a charity night run that supports people with visual impairments. The Sofia Mountain Club organises the event.
The run starts at 8:00 pm from the North Beach in front of Burgas Beach Arena, which also doubles as the finish line. Sign-ups open an hour earlier, at 7:00 pm, when organisers will also collect donations on site.
Runners will cover 5 kilometres along the seaside path toward the Sarafovo district, turning back near the "Lugata" area. There's no clock and it's not a race — the event marks the cause symbolically after dark. Every runner must wear a head torch or carry some other light.
Organisers say people can run or walk the distance.
The national event has now run eight times, raising close to 90,000 levs for charity. Money raised in Burgas will go to non-profit groups that help people with impaired sight.
