The National Academy of Arts _ndash_ Burgas branch opened its doors for its eighth academic year with a solemn ceremony held in Magazia 1.
The event was marked by a festive atmosphere, palpable in the lively foyer, filled with the anticipation of students and guests.
According to a statement by the branch"s team to BTA, 49 newly admitted students will begin their studies in the coastal city this autumn.
Speeches and Congratulations
The Rector of the NAA, Prof. Georgi Yankov, addressed the academic community, emphasizing the exceptional importance of the Burgas branch for the city"s cultural life.
"Dear freshmen, it is a privilege to study in this city, because the sea is not only a landscape, but an eternal bearer of freedom and dreams"
he stated, adding that "talent is boundless when accompanied by work and perseverance".
The Mayor of Burgas, Dimitar Nikolov, recalled the beginning of the initiative to create the branch, expressing his satisfaction with the fact that the academy today is "an integral part of the city"s educational and cultural map".
The Regional Governor Vladimir Krumov, outlined the presence of the NAA in Burgas as "the missing link in the cultural life of the region".
The Rectors of Burgas State University "Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov_, Prof. Svetoslav Sotirov, and of the Mining-Geological University "St. Ivan Rilski_, Prof. Ivan Koprev, also offered their congratulations.
The head of the Regional Education Directorate in Burgas, Valentina Kamalieva, congratulated the teachers and students, defining the NAA branch as "a symbol of high academic standards and a place where individuals are created who, through art, contribute to the spiritual growth of society".
Exhibition Opening
The ceremony ended with a prayer for prosperity. After the prayer, the student IDs were handed to the newly admitted freshmen. After the official part, the guests were invited to the academy"s "Atelier" gallery, where the exhibition "For the Letters: Calligraphy" was opened.
New Programs
In an interview for BTA in August, the director of the branch, Prof. Svetoslav Benchev, announced that in addition to the existing three master"s programs, the branch is preparing two new ones, which will be offered only in Burgas _ndash_ "Stained Glass" and "Restoration and Underwater Archaeology_q_. Admission for them is expected to begin from the next academic year.
