Nesebar council signed more than 60 new contracts for high-efficiency air conditioners and over 30 for pellet stoves and boilers on 30 September, as part of its "Nesebar for cleaner air" project, the council said. Heat pumps are already fitted and running in the homes of 15 approved applicants.
The project is funded under the Environment Programme 2021-2027 and will replace old wood and coal stoves in stages with air conditioners, pellet stoves, boilers or heat pumps. In total, 1,320 households in the municipality will get new heating systems.
For approved applicants, everything is free: workers remove and take away the old stove, then deliver and fit the new equipment, with a warranty included.
"The interest in the project shows that more and more residents of the municipality see the benefits of switching to more modern ways of heating," said Nesebar mayor Nikolay Dimitrov. He said this matters both for air quality and for people's living conditions.
Applications will be taken until 2029, when the programme ends. Anyone still heating their home with wood or coal can apply.
Residents can hand in their documents at the project office in Nesebar, at 57 Sveti Sveti Kiril i Metodiy Street, where staff can also answer questions. The application rules, declaration forms and full list of documents needed are posted on the website nesebarbezemisii.com.
